Absentee Voting works like this:

1. Fill out an Absentee Ballot Application

2. Once finished, mail it to the Fairfax County Government Center (1200 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA 22035)

3. After the Government Center approves your Application, your real Ballot will be mailed to you, in which then you can either vote in person at the Government Center before November 8th, or just mail your Ballot back to the Government Center.

Dear Constituents and all the Members of the Dave Albo for Delegate Team:

On Tuesday, I was honored by the voters in my community to continue my service as their representative to the Virginia House of Delegates. This will send me to Richmond for year #17 and 18. And, upon my arrival, I will be one of the most Senior Members of the newly energized Republican Caucus. We have seven new seats. But most importantly, we have added four new members of the Northern Va Republican Caucus. This will help immensely in getting NOVA the schools and roads we need.

To the voters, I am honored to have received your vote. To all the people who contributed and volunteered on my campaign, I am honored to receive your support. We ran a near perfect campaign. (I say "near" because nothing is perfect.) By running on what we are going to accomplish, and pointing out my commitment to the community where I grew up, live, and work, we received 56.57% of the votes. And to describe to you how good this is, we out-performed Bob McDonnell by 7%. Thus showing that not only the voters who consider themselves Republican voted for "Dave Albo", but also the independents.

But elections are really about getting things done for our community, and I am already hard at work developing my legislative agenda for the 2010 Session (the 391st Session of the Virginia General Assembly / House of Burgesses.) So if you have any ideas you would like to share with me, I am happy to listen! After all, that's what this job is all about!

A Victory and it's back to Work!!

Tuesday was a glorious day for Team Albo! We ended up with a 12% victory over our opponent. We wanted to take the time to thank all of our supporters and constituents that helped our team to a victory! Now that Dave has won his Delegate seat again, it is back to work for him. It hasn't even been a week yet, and Dave is out today cleaning up political signs with the South County Federation on Rt. 1. It is great to have Dave as our Delegate for another term!

We here on Dave's Campaign would just like to thank the South County Secondary Student volunteers who have come out and helped support our campaign efforts. We ended getting 63 students out on Saturday and managed to knock on a couple thousand doors that weekend. We greatly appreciate their determination and support for their District. New Events for Dave's Campaign

Dave's staff has created a new walk schedule for the weekends from now until November. On Saturdays, we will meet at our office (6367 Rolling Mill Pl. Suite 102, Springfield, VA 22152) at about 10:30am. There will be 2 shifts on Saturdays, 11-2pm and then from 2-6pm. On Sundays will we be meeting at Dave's home (8108 Ox Rd. Fairfax Station, VA 22039) at about 12:30pm. There will be only 1 shift on Sunday from 1-6pm. Contact our Field Director Ryan Thompson for more details, 703-451-355.

There Are No New Abusive Driver Fees!!

Currently Greg Werkheiser is spreading false rumors on Dave. His website claims that Dave Albo plans on reinstating his Abusive Driver Fees. Albo voted to repeal the fees. And if you look at Albo's plan submitted for the 2008 Special Session on transportation, you will see no mention of Abuser Driver Fees (aka Civil Remedial Fees) This video is obviously edited, because what Albo is talking about is re-submitting the plans he and Delegate Tom Rust proposed for the Special Session where new revenue is raised but 100% of the money raised in NOVA stays in NOVA for our roads.

Setting Youtube Straight

It was recently brought to our attention that there are negative/biased videos on Youtube against Dave claiming that he slacks off during session in Richmond. The video posted shows Dave looking at a $3,5oo,ooo home in Mason Neck, VA and talks about how he needs to pay more attention in session. What they failed to mention is that it was a break in the session period, and that just about every other Delegate was online as well searching various websites. Dave was looking up property values in Mason Neck because a constituent was complaining about the County Tax assessment on the constituent's home. Helping Our Campaign!

We are now getting close to crunch time for Dave Albo's Campaign, so this means all efforts must be doubled! Every night throughout the week Dave and his staff are going door to door trying to reach out to voters and supporters as well as putting up signs throughout the District! Affordable Healthcare

Hello Neighbors,

Currently our Nation is facing a serious issue with the costs and performance of Healthcare. Although Healthcare is mostly a federal issue, our Virginia General Assembly is doing their best to make sure we have health care that is affordable and accessible. Past legislative accomplishments include making health care more affordable for small businesses, encouraging Virginians to purchase private long-term care insurance, enhancing personal responsibility and expanding utilization of technology to increase safety. As well as funding mental health services, empowering individuals to manage their health care and reforming Medicaid to better meet patient needs while containing the expenditure growth. For children of families that truly can not afford to provide health care for their children, Virginia provides health insurance. Here are a few Bills that have been passed concerning our health care issue in the state:

Flexible Benefits Health Insurance -- HB 2024 (2009) : Reduces the number of uninsured Virginians by allowing small businesses the flexibility to offer affordable health insurance plans through greater choice of level of coverage. Since 1999, health insurance costs have risen 129% and 84% since 2001 forcing small business owners to cut health plans while preventing others from offering any in the first place.

Long Term Health Care -- HB 761 & HB 759 (2006): Encouraged the purchase of private long-term care health insurance through tax credits and public-private long-term care partnership programs. Because the future demand for long-term care services is expected to rise, Virginians need to plan ahead to ensure that the widest array and highest quality of services will be available.

Affordable Health Care -- HB 397 (2008): Increases affordable care by removing certain limitations on the deductibles that a health maintenance organization may require enrollees to pay. Increasing flexibility in payment requirements allows Virginia’s access to more affordable health care services.

Northern Virginia Students Improve on Standards of Learning

More on Transportation

Hello Neighbors,

Our last post didn't even come close to explaining how much Dave continuously puts forth for the betterment of our community in regards to transportation. The completion of the parkway and other transportation projects throughout the district are a result of the money and time Dave dedicates to this cause. But despite all that has already been accomplished, there is always more to do.

The parkway project - filling the gap between Rolling Road and Fullerton Road - that is now under construction is designed to be built in four phases (as discussed in the last post). However, the third and fourth phases were not originally funded by Virginia because of the lack of sufficient money. The last two phases of the project are vital; the Army is building a new, top-secret clearance facility that will support 8,500 families with high paying jobs just off the parkway. Unfortunately, the Army did not provide money for the roads to transport the employees and contractors to and from the site, and so the third and fourth phases remained unfunded.

Unlike the U.S. Congress, Virginia does not have "earmarks." The decisions on what roads and rail to build are made by an appointed body called the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB). This was done years ago to "take the politics out of road funding." The CTB's goal is to use objective measurements to build roads and rail, as opposed to political calculations.

In a bi-partisan effort by all of the representatives of the area affected by the construction off of the parkway, a forceful campaign to convince the CTB of the absolute necessity of funding for the third and fourth phases began. Delegate Vivian Watts, Senator George Barker, and Delegate Dave Albo all wrote and pushed the Governor, the Secretary of Transportation, and the CTB to fully fund the parkway project. Because of the joint efforts of these politicians, the CTB decided to use the Federal Stimulus funds to complete the last two phases, thus completing the entire project.

Thanks to the other Delegates of the Northern Virginia area and thanks to Dave for all the work they put forth to make our area a fantastic place to live.

Dave's Work on the Fairfax County Parkway

During his 16 years in the House of Delegates, Dave has helped bring more transportation funding to his area of Fairfax County than any other area of Virginia. However, transportation is still an issue in this expanding metropolitan area. That is why Dave continues his work in developing plans and fighting for funds for further transportation expansion.

Currently, one of the most prominent transportation issues in the Northern Virginia region involves the completion of the Fairfax County Parkway. The Parkway was originally designed to "create a vital corridor linking the extreme ends of Fairfax County from the north at Route 7 to the southeast at Route 1 near Fort Belvoir" (VA Department of Transportation). Presently, there exists a gap in the parkway between Rolling Road and Fullerton Road, restricting access from the north end of the parkway to I-95 and Route 1. The Transportation Act of 2007, originally written by Dave, brought more transportation funds than any other bill in the history of Virginia. With this money and Dave's support, the gap between Rolling Road and Fullerton Road will finally be filled, completing the original vision of the VA Department of Transportation. The construction for this project is split into four phases with the first and second completed by 2010.

Assuring Quality Living in the District

If there is one thing I can not stand within my neighborhood, it's severely overcrowded homes and commercial trucks parking within the neighborhood (especially a big issue in Townhouse communities). Our district is very diverse as far as the age of the communities. In older neighborhoods and communities, a lot of times there is no Homeowners' Association, therefore the residents do not have to abide by any rules or regulations regarding maintaining their property. In these neighborhoods you will often find residents who abuse their neighbors and often burden the neighborhood in some way.

In the past few years, Dave has made sure that residents within communities like this don't have to deal with these issues. Dave has worked with the local government to help fight abusers within neighborhoods and has written laws allowing the local government to do more within the District. Dave's laws have given County Zoning Enforcement the ability to obtain search warrants for zoning violations such as overcrowding homes or attempting to run a business out of a residential unit. The other bills correlate to the commercial truck parking. It gives police the ability to ban and ticket parking of trailers, containers, and trucks greater than 12,000 lbs or greater than 20ft. It's Dave's dedication to our neighborhoods and to getting results that makes living in the 42nd District so great.

After retrieving the General Fund appropriations for K-12 spending since Dave has been in office (1994) it shows that funding has actually gone up about 270% since 94'.

Controlling Illegal Immigration

A big issue that has gotten worse over the past decade has been the problem with the number of illegal aliens moving in to not only Fairfax County, but the state of Virginia as well. After receiving many complaints on the issue, Dave has been working to put an end to the illegal immigrants receiving benefits from the taxpayer's money. Now Dave is one of the State's and Nation's leaders in stopping illegal immigration. Recently Dave has passed bills such as:

HB 1156: (Delegate Dave Albo Chief Patron: 1994) - requires probation and parole officers, along with jailers, to report on the citizenship status of convicted felons to the INS.

HB 1954: (Delegate Dave Albo Chief Patron: 2003) - Denying Illegal Aliens Driver's Licenses.

HB 1798: (Delegate Dave Albo Chief Patron: 2005) - Denying Illegal Aliens Non-Emergency tax payer benefits such as Welfare, Medicaid and Free Housing.

HB 61: (Delegate Dave Albo Chief Patron: 2006) - Removes Illegal Aliens from Virginia's Voting Rolls.

This is a serious issue facing our District and State and we need someone who is willing to put their foot down and put an end to this mess.

Dave's Work with the Lorton Community Action Center

Hello 42nd District,

First off, we have noticed here at our office that our blog has been making appearances on various websites. They have been slamming us for all sorts of things, but the goal of this blog is to simply let the people know what Dave is doing for our District and State as well as his future plans for the Commonwealth.

Recently Dave has been working closely with the LCAC, (Lorton Community Action Center) which provides essentials to those who can not afford it in the South County area. For quite some time now, Dave has been helping the LCAC raise money as well as donating money himself. In 2004, he donated all the pay he received during the extended Session to the LCAC. Not only has Dave contributed to the LCAC but also his Campaign and his Law Firm. Dave is personally committed to helping the LCAC help the less fortunate in the South County/Lorton area.

Putting Up a Fight Against Outrageous Taxation

Big issues have been brought to Dave's attention these past few years thats Constituents feel need to be dealt with. Such things as transportation, jobs, education and of course TAXES. For sixteen years now Dave's mission has been to fight and cut these taxes to help but money back into our pockets, especially during difficult times like this. Dave has successfully cut taxes on such things as:

-Repealing the Car Tax (This has not been fully implemented, but presently we can enjoy a tax cut of $630 on a $20,000 car)

-Cut the Food Tax in half

-Eliminated the tax on pharmaceuticals

-Created "Sales Tax Holidays" for school supplies and clothing

In a time like this we need a Delegate who is fighting to help us keep the money we have been working hard for.

Making Education a Top Priority for Fairfax County

Now that school is just about out for the year, construction can now go full force on doing renovations on the county's high schools and secondary schools. Dave is very passionate on making sure our kids have the very best when it comes to education in the county. Dave is planning on completing the following:

-West Springfield H.S. Renovation: As a WSHS graduate, this issue is close to Dave. Dave is a member of Supervisor Herrity's WSHS Alumni Leaders Team, which helped the WSHS parent group bring attention to our local school's dilapidated condition. Because of these efforts, our School Board representative was able to place WSHS on the renovation list. Dave's efforts won't stop until our school's renovations are complete.

-Lee H.S. Renovation: Dave gives sole thanks to the School Board for finding the funds for the much needed renovation to Lee High School.

-South County Secondary School: Dave's "Albo-Rust Public/Private School Construction Plan" and local parents' land swap idea built our new school in half the time and at two-thirds the cost.

-South County Middle School: As Delegate, Dave delivered $1.74 Million in state funds to build our new South County Middle School. Not so much as Delegate, but as a parent, Dave joined the South County Middle School Solutions Group. Over the course of four years, they earned our School Board's approval to build our new school.

-Hayfield and Lake Braddock Renovations: Again Dave gives sole credit for finding the funds for these much needed renovations to our School Board.

Also Dave is very passionate about getting our VA students into VA colleges. Dave's plan creates new "in-state" slots so that at least 75% of slots at each school are reserved for Virginia Residents. This will provide a greater chance for kids to get into their VA in-state schools.

Preserving Jobs and Improving Our Economy

These past few years Dave has been working hard to improve our economy and job status within the State and District. Lately, Dave has been focusing on:

-New and expanded roads/mass transit--Employers won't do business in areas where their employees face an unreasonable commute.

-Keep high quality schools--The focus here is to attract employers and keep jobs in our area.

-Make sure there are no more Labor Unions--Employers won't create new jobs in Virginia if they have to pay outrageous Union contracts.

-Working on stopping the Government from spending money it does not have--Government must not borrow from the next generation to pay for Welfare programs today.

Let's remember that Dave is fighting not only for our current residents of the state and district but for future residents as well!

Dave Albo Works Hard for our Community

Now that both the Albo Campaign and the Werkheiser Campaign are in full bloom, Constituents of the District are going to start seeing Mail pieces that are negative slams against Dave. We need to remember that these Mail pieces are never correct and that somehow each time Dave does something good for our District, a Mail piece shows up saying how little he does for us! This is an outrage!

Let's keep in mind that Dave has helped his District by writing legislation that:

-Banned smoking in restaurants (while preserving "cigar bars")

-Banned Large Commercial Truck parking on residential streets

-Increased enforcement on zoning laws to fight overcrowded houses

-Cracked down on gangs. Dave wrote Virginia's anti-gang laws that recruitment of young people into gangs a felony and give additional harsh prison time for gang crimes committed near schools

Let's also keep in mind that Dave is a proud member of parent's groups for West Springfield HS and South County SS, and is closely working towards additions and renovations. Dave is working hard for our children's schools and education. Dave knows what's best for his Constituents and District because he listens to what the people have to say!

Making Changes In Your Neighborhoods

Tonight is the Campaign Kick-off for Dave Albo at 7:30 at the Springfield Golf & Country Club off Old Keene Mill Road. Hope to see everyone there!

This blog is now going to start getting the ball rolling with issues that concern the District and how Dave plans to handle them. Also the blog will contain updates of what Dave is doing for our great state as well as our District.

As Dave and his Campaign Staff have been going door to door, we have been asking everyone what their big concern/issue is for their District/County. The #1 response we received was TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORTATION. So let's talk about some of Dave's plans and progress on transportation in our Northern Virginia neighborhood. First off, Dave plans on Widening of Rolling Rd. from Keene Mill to Hunter Village Dr. He also plans on widening Lorton Rd. over by South County, all the way from Rt. 123 to Silverbrook Rd. Dave plans on making some drastic improvements to the Silverbrook Rd. and Hooes Rd. Intersection. There will be widening of I-95 from Newington to the Occoquan River as well as completion of the Fairfax County Parkway from Rolling Rd. to I-95. And finally, something that is much needed, Dave plans on adding new cars for the VRE and Metro. Constituents and residents of the Northern Virginia area can look forward to these improvements within the next couple years. Dave is working hard to keep his Constituents at ease and give them the changes they deserve.
